We create delicious sweet and savoury crepes and hot custardy crumbles, cooked and prepared before your eyes!

  • Our traditional crepe batter is made from whole milk, free range eggs and flour, but we also offer an alternative batter which is gluten, egg and dairy free. This is made from a special blend of GF flours, buckwheat and organic GF oat milk. We also offer vegetarian and vegan options, GF/ dairy free crumbles and custard.

  • Our portions are generous - each crepe measures over 15 inches across and if you want it fully loaded it will be (our savoury was recently described as "more cheesy than a cheese toasty, more filling than a pizza and maybe... even healthier!").

  • Prices range from £5 for a freshly squeezed lemon and sugar to £9 for a 'Classic' savoury crepe with ham, chorizo, chilli jam, our trademark toasted cheddar edge and baby leaves. We like to keep our menus varied so often offer new fillings on our Specials board. See menus below.

  • We both have level 3 food safety certificates, FSA Allergy training and a 5 star food hygiene rating from Durham County Council.

   If something you fancy isn't on the menu, just ask! we are happy to create the         strangest of combinations. One young and adventurous local customer always asks for Rocky Road and ham! we won't name him- what happens at the crepe box stays at the crepe box.

More About Us

Our Story

Crepe Expectations belongs to us, Catherine and John.

We embarked on our venture after being inspired by a very happy looking couple in a coffee trailer outside a castle in Scotland, while we were on holiday from our demanding jobs.

Further up the coast we discovered another, this time serving crepes. As life long crepe fanatics it seemed like the perfect thing to do!

Later that summer we saw a very tired old horsebox on ebay and the adventure began... John's skills were put to work and a year or so later we had a functioning catering trailer.

For several months every visitor to our home had to sample our crepes, and in the four years since then, we have continually tweaked and improved both the food we offer and the horsebox itself. 

We have been on an amazing adventure and have been lucky enough to meet some wonderful people and attend some truly extraordinary events.

Some Event Highlights so far...

 

Where have we been and what have we done!?

Everything! although a definite highlight was catering for the cast and crew of Sony's multi million pound film "The Bone Temple", ALL night on their final night of filming (having now seen the film we wonder how they still had an appetite!) We also do a number of different events at Raby Castle, various corporate and sales events, weddings, birthday parties, staff parties or wellbeing events, christenings, food festivals, local evening food markets, Christmas markets, university open days, farmers markets, classic car shows, football and cricket matches, colour runs, Pride events, agricultural shows, school events, music festivals (we've even done a heavy metal festival!) and regular pop ups at our local pubs and villages, along with countless other wonderful places...

Why hire us for your event?

Packages and Pricing

Option 1 Sweet Crepes  £600

for 100 freshly made crepes with Nutella, lemon and sugar, homemade caramel, white chocolate, Biscoff and optional cream on top!

Option 3 Add Extra Indulgent Sweet Crepes for an extra £200

Extend the choices from option 1 to include fully loaded crepes such as Banoffee (homemade caramel, whole chopped banana, Nutella ) Millionaires Shortbread (a blend of biscuit pieces, homemade caramel and Nutella) and Rocky Road (a big scoop of mini marshmallows, Nutella and biscuit pieces) all with optional cream on top

Option 2 ADD Crumble pots for an extra £200  

Add the choice of a fruit or plain crumble pot instead of a crepe, with hot custard or cream

Option 4 ADD Savoury Crepes for an extra £350

With our trademark crispy toasted cheese edge, we offer fillings including ham and cheese, cheese and onion and mushroom with cream cheese and black pepper, all with baby leaves
